Sakai City

Since olden times, Sakai has flourished through domestic and international trade, and cultural exchange. The liberal and vigorous spirit of the citizens has created a rich medieval culture. This rich culture has been handed down through the generations in the form of traditional industries, represented by edged tool manufacturing, and the tea ceremony, perfected by the grand tea master Sen-no-Rikyu. Making use of its rich natural environment, Sakai City offers such facilities as the 'tore-tore fish market' on the shore of Osaka bay, where you can buy fresh fish. In the hilly region to the south, several leisure farms such as Harvest Hill dot the landscape.
