Izumi City

Blessed with a genial climate and ample clean water, the Izumi area flourished in as early as the Yayoi period. In fact Izumi city is a historical town rich in cultural assets and ruins. The 84.99 Km2 of the city area extends north and south, which are roughly divided into the northern urban district and the southern mountain area. Izumi has various active industries such as textile industry, whose origin dates back to the ‘Izumi cotton’ in the Edo period, manufacturing of artificial pearl, lampworking, and flower cultivation. The southern mountain area is noted for satsuma orange cultivation on the hilly zone.
