Ikegami-Sone Yayoi Cultural Workshop(Ikegami-Sone Historic Site)

One of the nation's most prominent ruins of the large colony of the Yayoi Period situated in Sone (Izumiotsu City) and Ikegami(Izumi City). Out of the ruin's 600,000m2, 115,000m2 area is designated a National Historical Site. It is estimated that in mid-Yayoi Period, the site was surrounded by a moat, five meters in width and one kilometer in length. A tall construction with 26 huge pillars ('Giant Hall of Izumi') and the largest and oldest well with the curbs of huge camphor wood ('Large Well of Yayoi') have been restored on the site. In May 2001, a new facility in which visitors can experience simulated ancient life was opened -'Ikegami-Sone Yayoi Cultural Workshop'.
