Kishiwada Castle


The origin of the castle goes back to the early 14th century, when KUSUNOKI Masashige(1294-1335) had his clansman WADA Takaie construct a fort. The 1st and the 2nd floor of the three-layered donjon which was restored in 1954, and one of the turrets are used as the municipal data room, the function of which is to collect, exhibit and house local materials of historical, artistic and folkloristic interest. The scenery of 'Hachi-jin no Niwa' (literally a garden of eight positions) Garden which was designed by an authoritative garden designer SHIGEMORI Reizo is really attractive. The castle is lit up all year round.
