Mt Inunaki (Inunaki-san Shipporyuji
Temple, Inunaki-yama Spa) |
|

|
*Inunaki-san Shipporyuji Temple
The name Inunaki derives from a legend of a hunting dog which
sacrificed itself to save its master from an assault of
a rock python. On the hillside is the time-honored Inunaki-san
Shipporyuji Temple, which is said to have been opened as
a training site for practitioners of Shugendo some 1300
years ago. Even today, disciplinants are seen standing
under the waterfall in ascetic practice. The Shugendo Archive
was newly opened. An experience program of a day or two
of ascetic practice is available. The hiking course leading
to Mt. Katsuragi is popular for the beauty of seasonal
change of colors.
*Inunaki-yama Spa
A hotspring spa by the mountain stream at the foot of Mt.
Inunaki. A place of great deal of atmosphere throughout the
year: Blossoms of the mountain cherry in Spring; Fireflies
and miller's thumb in Summer; Crimson leaves in Fall; and
the Dusting of light snow in Winter. |
